Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream - 2007 @ 8:00 PM

In Greek mythology, Cassandra has the gift of predicting the future.

Stunned by her beauty, Apollo granted her the power to foresee the future. However, when he found out he wouldn't be loved back, he also granted her a curse: no one would ever believe her prophecies. Cassandra represents the fragile condition of humankind and a the burden of a powerless supremacy we may carry someday. Sometimes you may have everything but have nothing at the same time...

Cassandra's Dream, another amazing Woody Allen's film, in the style of Match Point (including the wise use of Opera), tells the the story of two brothers who are facing finantial problems: one of them has a glambing problem and the other one wants to invest money in Hotels in California. They go after a very welthy uncle to ask for help, but uncle Howard asks a favour in return. That's when Ian and Terry face a dilemma.

Cassandra's Dream is the name they gave to a boat they decided to buy, it was named after the dog who won the race in which Terry got the money to buy the boat. What's very funny is that they have no idea about the mythological fate that will follow them from then on. It shows that life is nothing more than a great tragi act.
Very nice film. Worth watching it!
